Whale Hunting Should Be Banned - 1074 Words

Would you eat whale for dinner? Didn’t think so because why would people do such thing. This is really happening to whales. Its not right to whales especially when a certain species is at risk of extinction. The United States is trying to stop these nations from doing this but they wont listen to anyone. They say its their culture which I understand, but really 100 plus whales a year isnt necessary and a lot goes to waste! Whale blubber is over half the whale and Norway hates blubber so they send it to Japan another big industry in whales. Norway also send s whale meat to Japan which means the have even more meat to go into the market and sold and at least goes to waste. Hunting is done from May to October and people put traps out to these unharmful animals. People put nets out at night and the next night go out and harpoon it multiple times as it suffers to death and nobody knows. A good whale gets killed by a trap while another gets shot by a boat then dragged onto the deck and killed. The good thing about whale hunting is the food benefit from this large animal. We also get whale oil from them which is also good. They produce so much meat that it can feed up to 50,000 meals! Thats a lot then multiply that by 500 plus whales a year that’s over 25,000,000 meals. This can benefit the food supply and give at least a whole lot of people food and whale meat averages at $10.00. The whale market makes about 6 million dollars a year.
